The Department of Public Safety administers federal criminal justice grants through the Governor's Crime Commission, as well as homeland security, disaster preparedness and disaster recovery grants through the Division of Emergency Management.

Governor's Crime Commission Grants

The Governor's Crime Commission is the N.C. executive branch agency designated to apply for federal criminal justice funding from the US Department of Justice on behalf of the State.

 These federal funds, along with state appropriated funds, are distributed to state and local criminal justice agencies and non-profits through a grant application process voted on annually by the Commission. Learn more about the GCC Grant Process

Emergency Management Grants

North Carolina Emergency Management administers federal and state preparedness and recovery grant programs to improve the state's ability to prevent, protect, respond and recover from all hazards, both man-made and natural.
