Statewide Enhanced Hazard Mitigation Plan - 2018
FEMA requires state and local governments to develop and adopt hazard mitigation plans in order to receive certain types of non-emergency disaster funds. North Carolina's Enhanced Hazard Mitigation Planmakes the state eligible for additional funds to prevent future damage. Due to the enhanced plan status, North Carolina qualifies for 20 percent (as opposed to 15) of the total federal recovery assistance funds (i.e., what has been paid out through the individual and public assistance programs combined). These funds can be used now on projects to minimize the impact of future storms.
North Carolina's Statewide Enhanced Hazard Mitigation Plan was adopted in February 2018.
