The North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Office of Victim Compensation Services provides financial assistance that helps victims regain their lives and their financial stability. No amount of money can erase the trauma and grief victims suffer, but this aid can support recovery. Victim Compensation Program

Victims of violent crime can apply for financial assistance for eligible expenses, including medical care and lost income. Families may also submit funeral costs for homicide victims.

Rape Victim Assistance Program

State law instructs medical providers who perform the forensic medical examination to refrain from billing the victim. They must instead bill our program.

Crime Victim Compensation Commission

The members of the commission meet quarterly to review applications and determine eligibility for compensation.
