Eric Smith

Smith has served as the director of OSI since December 2022. Before assuming the role as director he served as deputy director of OSI starting January 2021. As a retired captain from the Wilson Police Department, he has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience. He previously worked for the Wilson Police Department as captain of professional standards, lieutenant of administration, sergeant of patrol, financial crimes detective, juvenile detective and patrol officer. Smith holds a masters in Justice Administration from Methodist University, and is also an adjunct professor of criminology/criminal justice at Barton College. Smith serves on the Board of Directors for the Wilson Police Department Police Athletics/Activities League.
