This program will engage teenage students in Interpersonal Skill Building with adult mentors through a variety of activities. These activities will take place during extracurricular times. These activities will engage a diverse group of peers including students who are high risk. At Risk and court-involved youth are referred to the Avery Mentoring Program where they are paired with a volunteer mentor to spend two hours a week together for a full calendar year. Youth are referred by Juvenile Court Counselors, School Counselors, Department of Social Services, and Daymark. Youth who have mentors have been shown to have decreased recidivism rates and decreased instances of substance use and abuse, as well as improved self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships.

The Structured Day (SD) Program is a licensed day treatment program for middle school and 9th graders, on a case by case basis, who have moderate to severe behavioral problems. SD offers both academic and therapeutic services to these youth. As part of the service clients receive individual and group therapy as well as family sessions. SD is contracted to work with youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice. Youth must have an IQ of at least 70.
