There are many public records already available online which you can access without making a public records request. Here are just a few:
STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

Collision Information – Crash reports may be obtained regarding traffic accidents investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Reports are normally entered into the system within 5-7 business days after the accident.

Certified Crash Reports – Certified crash reports must be obtained from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

Medical Examiner and Toxicology Reports – These records must be requested through the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.

North Carolina Judicial Branch – NCDPS is not the custodian of court records. To request records regarding criminal and civil cases, police reports and traffic citations, contact the North Carolina Judicial Branch or the Clerk of Court in the county where the citation was issued.
