Troopers in Johnston County responded to a single vehicle fatal collision on Saturday, March 13, 2016 near Middlesex. N.C.
According to a preliminary investigation, a red 1995 Chevrolet pick-up truck, operated by a white female, was traveling north on Friendship Church Road near the Nash/Johnston County line when it entered a curve and lost control. The vehicle traveled left of center and then onto the left shoulder of the roadway where in struck an embankment adjacent to a bridge. It then overturned before becoming partially submerged upside down in a creek. As a result of the collision, the driver died. The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Alcohol and speed are suspected in this collision.
Once next of kin notification is made, it will be provided in a follow up release.
