State and local law enforcement officials have apprehended a juvenile who escaped from the Cabarrus Juvenile Detention Center this morning.

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice reports that a juvenile is at large today following an escape from a juvenile facility.

Members of North Carolina Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team, known as NC HART, airlifted an injured hiker tonight from the area near Hunt Fish Falls in Avery County. The 70-year-old man suffered an injured hip and was unable to hike out.

The State Highway Patrol proudly welcomed 23 new troopers at a graduation ceremony for the 142nd Basic Highway Patrol School. The celebration ended 15 weeks of extensive academic and physical training.
