The Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has named Tyshanda Brown the new director of Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Greenville. A native of Beaufort County, Brown began her new duties on Sept. 12 after her promotion from facility supervisor.

Throughout the agency’s eight districts, special agents executed four search warrants, seized six firearms, 78 fraudulent identifications, U.S. currency and various types of illegal controlled substances. Of the 189 arrests and 449 charges, 20 were felony charges, 261 were alcohol-related charges, and 80 were drug-related charges.

The State Highway Patrol swore in 21 new troopers at a ceremony held for the 156th Basic Highway Patrol School.  The ceremony ended 25 weeks of demanding courses aimed at preparing these new troopers for a meaningful career of service to the state of North Carolina.
