WHAT: DPS leadership, along with past and present employees, will celebrate the historic milestone of the 50th Anniversary of State Capitol Police. There will be a floating reception from 12 to 2 p.m.

Background: State Capitol Police is a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. It is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment within the North Carolina State Government Complex and investigates serious crimes within its jurisdiction and monitors emergency alarms at state-owned facilities 24/7 across North Carolina, directing emergency responders as needed. The State Capitol Police was created following a budget request from Governor Dan K. Moore in 1967.
