MEDIA ADVISORY

What:  State and international water rescue teams using boats and aircraft will train in a large-scale flood rescue exercise centered around Lake James and the Catawba River near Morganton.

Who:  Numerous water and air rescue teams from North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut in addition to international teams from Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile and the United Kingdom

When:  Exercise runs from March 31 through April 3.  
A media day will be held on Tuesday April 2 beginning at 1 p.m. - one of the exercise’s busiest days.

Where:    Media interested in covering the exercise should meet at the Western Piedmont Emergency Services Training Center at 150 Coal Chute Road, Morganton, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2.  Exercise organizers will conduct a media briefing and will then escort media to sites to see air and boat rescue exercises in progress.
