Hurricane Dorian Intake Center opening in Swan Quarter

Hyde County
Nov 26, 2019

Mainland Hyde County residents that received damage due to Hurricane Dorian will have an opportunity from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4 to apply for Individual Assistance from the state at 30 Oyster Creek Road, Swan Quarter. The center’s operating hours are Monday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Residents needing recovery assistance should complete an application for a Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan. Low-interest disaster loans are available to homeowners and businesses, but no one is obligated to accept a loan. State-funded individual assistance provides grants to supplement SBA loans for Dorian affected individuals and businesses. The loan application determines your qualification for an Individual Assistance grant from the state.

Businesses and individuals can obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or 1-800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, or by emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Loan applications can also be downloaded at DisasterLoan.sba.gov and brought to the recovery centers.  Residents with questions about state-funded individual assistance can call 919-825-2378.

The SBA disaster request and state disaster declaration follow FEMA’s denial of North Carolina’s request for Individual Assistance on Oct. 8.
