ReBuild NC, the state’s long-term disaster recovery program, will host two public hearings this week to receive public comments on the state’s draft action plan for using $168 million in HUD Community Development Block Grant–Mitigation funding. Federal guidelines require that the funds be used for community projects that will reduce future losses in areas impacted by hurricanes Matthew and Florence. The hearings are part of the draft action plan public comment period that runs through 5 p.m. Dec. 23.
The draft action plan is available online at https://www.rebuild.nc.gov/mitigation. Written comments on the plan can be emailed to: publiccomments@rebuild.nc.gov. Written comments can also be mailed to: Mitigation Action Plan, P.O. Box 110465, Durham, NC 27709. The deadline for submitting public comments on the draft plan is 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2019.
