The State Highway Patrol held a promotion ceremony today at Hope Community Church in Raleigh to recognize the latest promotions of sworn and civilian members. This special celebration served to recognize all members who have been promoted since the last ceremony took place, which was in February 2022.

The ceremony began with an invocation provided by Pastor Duane Calvin and the singing of the national anthem by Tammera Hill, deputy general counsel of the Department of Public Safety. Remarks for the ceremony were provided by Department of Public Safety Secretary Eddie M. Buffaloe Jr. and Colonel Freddy L. Johnson Jr., commander of the State Highway Patrol.

“Being a leader is not easy, nevertheless you have accepted this calling into public service and have demonstrated unwavering preparedness to lead others,” said Colonel Johnson. “Today we take time to recognize the contributions you have made to our mission of saving lives, and we look forward to the positive impact you will have as leaders of this organization.”

The promoted members were administered their oath of office by Judge Paul Newby, chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.  Lt. Col. Daryl Conley provided remarks to those receiving civilian promotions, recognizing their hard work and dedication in service to our state. The event was concluded by Patrol Chaplain Phillip Bland who offered the benediction.

The attached spreadsheet reflects the new rank and duty station of each member who has been promoted since February 2022.
