The State Highway Patrol proudly welcomed 23 new troopers at a graduation held for the 149th Basic Highway Patrol School. The ceremony ended 12 weeks of demanding training preparing cadets for a rewarding career of service to the state of North Carolina.  
 

DURHAM, N.C.— Twelve more North Carolina counties are eligible to apply for federal disaster assistance to supplement state and local Hurricane Dorian recovery efforts. 

North Carolina residents recovering from Hurricane Dorian have one more week to visit one of the four disaster recovery centers.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash involving a state trooper who was hit by a vehicle on US 1 in Vance County. On Tuesday, October 22 at approximately 7:59 p.m., a 2012 Buick traveled off the roadway and struck the trooper from behind as he was conducting a traffic stop.

After 19 months of meeting, listening, observing and studying the North Carolina prison system, the Prison Reform Advisory Board today presented its recommendations for improvements to Department of Public Safety Secretary Erik A. Hooks.

On October 22, 2019 at approximately 7:59 pm a member of the State Highway Patrol was struck while conducting a traffic stop on US 1 in Vance County.
