The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named LaQreshia A. Bates-Harley as Chief Court Counselor in Judicial District 1, comprised of Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties. Bates-Harley assumed this post in May.

Just as the summer vacation begins for thousands of students and families up and down the east coast, state troopers from North Carolina, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Virginia will once again engage in Operation Border to Border.

The Rocky Mount Police Department, in collaboration with the United States Marshals Service and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, will be conducting a media briefing Thursday, June 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Death row inmate Bernard Lamp #0946174 died this morning at Rex Hospital of apparent natural causes.    Lamp was convicted and sentenced to death in 2014 for the 2007 murder of Bonnie Lou Irvine in Iredell County.

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice reports that a juvenile placed in its custody at the Edgecombe Youth Development Center failed to return to the facility today following an off-campus visit.
