The North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission awarded three State Capitol Police officers with the Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, the highest such honor awarded by the State.
State Capitol Police Officer Allyson Priest and sergeants Sydney Davis and Drew King received the award Aug. 21 by a vote of the full commission Aug. 21 at their Friday meeting.
The Commission’s Professional Certificate Program rewards and recognizes officers who continually strive to better themselves professionally by attending schools and training sessions, above and beyond what is currently mandated by the State of North Carolina. Officers must also have several years of full-time experience.
Sgt. Sydney Davis is a 23-year police veteran, serving with Butner Public Safety before transferring to the State Capitol Police in 2013. He is the supervisor of Squad 8 in the Patrol Division.
Sgt Drew King is a nine-year police veteran, serving with the Durham Police Department before joining the State Capitol Police in 2007. He is the supervisor of Squad 7.
Officer Allyson Priest is a 15-year police veteran, serving with the N.C. State Campus Police before joining the State Capitol Police in 2012. She is currently assigned to Squad 7.
