Sidra Owens
Director, Internal Audit
Secretary of the Department of Public Safety Eddie M. Buffaloe Jr. announced Sidra Owens as the department’s new internal audit director. She begins her position on Oct. 31, 2022.
Owens began her career in 1995 with the then-Department of Correction as a purchasing agent. She was promoted to accountant in 2002 and transferred to NCDPS when the agencies merged in 2012. Owens was named an auditor in 2015, audit supervisor in 2018 and audit manager in 2020. As internal audit director, she is responsible for providing objective evaluations of NCDPS policies and procedures.
A Raleigh native, Owens received a bachelor’s in accounting from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
