In response to Governor Roy Cooper’s activation order, the North Carolina National Guard will open three staging areas today to support local authorities’ response to Hurricane Irma. About 315 soldiers and airmen are being deployed to centers in Asheville, Greensboro and Charlotte. Governor Cooper will visit the Greensboro center at 4 p.m.
