The application period for the ReBuild NC Homeowner Recovery Program will close at 5 p.m. Friday, April 21, with available federal funding committed to applications currently in process and those expected in the weeks ahead.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol maintains national law enforcement accreditation through the Commission on Law Enforcement for Accreditation (CALEA). As a part of this process, an opportunity is provided to citizens of North Carolina for public feedback via the CALEA Portal.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced the creation of a statewide Office of Violence Prevention that will be located in the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. By coordinating efforts across state agencies and partnering with local leaders, the new office will focus on reducing violence and firearm misuse in North Carolina.

On Thursday, March 9, at approximately 1:47 a.m., the State Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle in a ditch on NC 73 near Lowell Road in Albemarle (Stanly County).  Upon arriving to the collision scene, the responding trooper observed the suspected driver involved in the collision to be in possession of a firearm in his waistband.  

March 5-11 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week and Governor Roy Cooper is urging North Carolinians to prepare and practice safety plans in case severe weather strikes.
