The North Carolina Division of Emergency Management has opened a public comment period for Action Plan Amendment 3 to the state of North Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Action Plan related to Hurricane Matthew recovery.

The Juvenile Jurisdiction Advisory Committee (JJAC) will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Created as part of the Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Act within S.L. 2017-57, the JJAC is tasked with developing an implementation plan for raising the age of juvenile jurisdiction, monitoring implementation and as needed, providing additional recommendations to the General Assembly.

Offender David Burleson (#0694678) died Saturday afternoon at Scotland Correctional Institution after an apparent suicide. He was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 12:07 p.m. Prison staff, medical staff and local paramedics responded and worked to resuscitate the offender.
