Registration

Alarm systems firms employing individuals with access to confidential information of any electronic security system, access to any codes or programs that allow systems to be modified or circumvented, or others subject to the registration requirements of NCGS 74D-8 must submit a registration application for each new employee within 30 days of employment.

Fees: $45 application fee, $38 fingerprint fee

The following items are required for a new alarm registration:

An alarm renewal application may be submitted up to 90 days prior to the expiration date. Late renewals will be accepted within 30 days of the expiration date for an additional $20 late fee.

The following items are required to renew alarm registration:

  • An online Permitium registration application
  • A recent digital photograph of the applicant
  • A signed Registration Affidavit and Public Notice Statement form
  • A completed 24-month online criminal history record check from CRC.com, dated less than 60 days from the date of registration application.

Fees: $10 application fee (transfer only), $55 application fee (transfer and renew)

Any valid alarm registration may be transferred to another licensed company and the expiration date remains the same. If the registration is within 90 days of its expiration date, the applicant’s registration may be transferred and renewed simultaneously.

The Board may issue an apprenticeship registration permit to an applicant who is 16 or 17 years old and currently enrolled in high school if the applicant holds a valid drivers license and submits at least three letters of recommendation stating that the applicant is of good moral character as provided in G.S. 74D-2(d)(2). The letters of recommendation shall be from persons not related to the individual, and at least one of the letters shall be from an official at the school where the applicant is enrolled.

A recent digital photograph of the applicant is required, which may be emailed to the Board (ppsasl-photos@ncdps.gov) or mailed in CD format. Email is the preferred method. If submitting photos on CD, they should be sent along with the application. 

Please utilize the following format when naming the photo on e-mail or cd: "Doe.John.Joseph.2587.type.jpg", which is the last name, first name, middle name, last four digits of their social security number and the type should be either licensee or registrant.
