Registration

Private protective services firms employing security guards, armored car guards, or others subject to the registration requirements of NCGS 74C-11 and NCGS 74C-13 must submit a registration application for each new employee within 30 days of employment.

All security guard and patrol licensees may employ unarmed security guards as probationary employees for 20 consecutive calendar days. Upon completion of the probationary period and the desire of the licensee to hire an unarmed security guard as a regular employee, the licensee shall register the employee within 30 days after the probationary employment period ends. The use of probationary employees must be documented and reported to Board staff monthly.

A comprehensive explanation of registration procedures is available in the Registration Procedures Manual.
