The State Highway Patrol proudly welcomed 22 new troopers today at a graduation ceremony held for the 159th Basic Highway Patrol School. The ceremony celebrates 29 weeks of extensive training to prepare the graduates for a meaningful career in law enforcement.

Damage assessments are ongoing in Nash and Edgecombe counties following a tornado that touched down last month.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Governor Roy Cooper signed a state disaster declaration for the Town of Dortches in Nash County that suffered damages from an EF-3 tornado on July 19. The declaration makes additional assistance available to the town.
The State Emergency Response Commission will meet on Friday, July 21, at the State Emergency Operations Center.
